The European Commission (EC) has approved two further applications for assistance under the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF). The applications from Germany and Finland will now be put before the European Parliament and Council for approval. They concern redundancies at two mobile phone industry companies: Perlos in Finland and BenQ in Germany. The applications will help put over 4,000 redundant workers back into employment. The contributions requested from the EGF in the BenQ and Perlos applications are EUR 12.8 million and EUR 2 million respectively.
