Anche tu, Economist mio... Cresce la vendita di musica in Corea

La Corea e' stato il primo ad approvare il tre botte e via.

L'articolo dell'Economist suggerisce una correlazione causa-effetto con il fatto che le vendite sono aumentate del 10%

Si nota che sono partite anche offerte legali di musica.

Dato che (secondo l'articolo) sono diminuiti i file online di musica condivisi da utenti coreani ma non sono diminuiti i file video condivisi, cose se ne deduce ?

1. i pirati video sono meno paurosi dei pirati audio quindi la legge non li preoccupa
2. l'aumento di offerta legale di musica fa ridurre la pirateria
3. altro

Spiace che L'Economist suggerisca una correlazione cosi' forte all'inizio dell'articolo e rileghi il fatto che la pirateria video non sia diminuita in 10 parole verso la fine, senza analizzare il significato del fatto.

CAN the battle against music piracy be won with sweeping new laws? In one country the answer appears to be yes. A year ago South Korea tightened copyright laws and allowed media firms to demand that warnings be sent to people who flout them. ...This provided the model for “three strikes” laws subsequently passed in France and Britain.

New figures from the South Korean branch of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) suggest the pioneering law has had an effect. Music sales rose by more than 10% in 2009, to $159m. In the music business any trend other than a decline is noteworthy.

...The revival of music sales is not solely attributable to the new law, however. Sales rose more steeply between 2007 and 2008, before it came into effect.
... The number of copyrighted music files found online by the government dropped by a remarkable 92% between 2008 and 2009.

Music piracy has certainly not disappeared. “It wasn’t as though the law came into effect and all illegal activity stopped,” says Mayseey Leong of the IFPI. Keen pirates simply pull music from Chinese sources instead of local ones. And an important factor in the revival of South Korea’s recorded-music business was the launch of legal music-subscription websites, including a cleaned-up Soribada.

In contrast with music, the supply of pirated video files has not declined at all.
